The refurbishment included upgrades to navigation systems, hull repairs, machinery overhauls, and the installation of state-of-the-art equipment to enhance the ship's performance and longevity. The military relationship between Seychelles and India has been growing stronger, highlighted by the recent 10th edition of the Joint Military Exercise "LAMITIYE-2024."

This biennial event, named after the Creole word for "friendship," took place from March 18th to 27th, 2024, involving 45 personnel each from the Indian Army’s Gorkha Rifles and the Seychelles Defence Forces.

The exercise aims to enhance cooperation and interoperability between the two nations, focusing on sub-conventional operations in semi-urban environments. Activities during the exercise included field training, combat discussions, lectures, demonstrations, and a two-day validation exercise to address potential security threats.

The Indian Navy also plays a crucial role in this bilateral relationship. Recent naval engagements, such as the visit of the Indian Navy's 1st training squadron ship, have further consolidated the maritime cooperation between the two countries.

India and Seychelles have a history of defense collaboration, and their military relationship extends beyond joint exercises. They have engaged in various agreements and training programs aimed at bolstering the defense capabilities of Seychelles. This collaboration includes specialized training and the sharing of expertise from Indian military experts.
