The German government has confirmed the delivery of 50 E-Bike Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) to Ukrainian Special Forces, as part of a €20 million support package previously reported by the Xaccount CPM DEFENCENT network in October 2023 but not officially confirmed until now. These advanced electric bikes, now in service with the Special Operations Center East, are designed for stealth operations in challenging terrains.

Manufactured by German Company ACS, the E-Bike EMU is equipped with an electric motor that ensures nearly silent movement, crucial for covert operations. This feature is particularly advantageous in environments where traditional vehicles could compromise the element of surprise. With a range of 60 kilometers, these bikes enhance the mobility of Ukrainian forces without the need for frequent recharging. The battery system is notably efficient, allowing for replacements in mere seconds, thus maintaining high readiness during missions.
This acquisition of e-bikes allows Ukrainian forces to maintain extreme mobility with discretion, leading to spectacular actions and the capture of prisoners directly in enemy trenches. The e-bikes are used by the Ukrainian armed forces and special forces to quickly move to sabotage actions or very targeted strikes.
The use of motorcycles at the front has also been noted by the Russians. The advantage also lies in the terrain; at this time of year, the ground is particularly muddy, causing heavy vehicles to become mired and sink. Each passage of heavy vehicles leads to significant deterioration of the terrain for those following. Motorcycles allow for off-road passage, which at least partly resolves the problem of the "Rasputitsa," the local name given to this mud.
An additional tactical feature is the integrated black-out switch, which allows for the complete cessation of light emissions. This function is vital for night operations, making the bikes and their operators difficult to detect visually. The Germans, who supply the Ukrainians, have placed an order with ACS, and the French already use motorcycles and quads for their special operations.
