Description
The Panhard PVP (Petit Véhicule Protégé = Light Protected Vehicle) is an all-terrain liaison, air transportable, high mobility, modular, lightweight, armored vehicle developed to meet the requirements of the French Army. In 2004, the French DGA, délégation générale pour l’armement or Armament Procurement Agency, has awarded a €40 million ($48 million) production contract to société nouvelle des automobiles Auverland (SNAA) for 314 petit véhicule protégé/protected small vehicles (PVP). In 2005, Peugeot Citroën sold is defence division Panhard to the French company Auverland, to create a new company with the name Panhard General Defense. The Company Panhard was purchased in 2012 by Renault Trucks Defense, who is now rebranded under the name of Arquus. The Auverland A4 AVL vehicle was selected for the PVP program by the DGA and the French Army during technical-operational comparative tests with other bidders underwent mainly at the Ventoux mountain, France. At thgis time, more than 930 vehicles have been ordered by the French Army. The Panhard PVP offers excellent mobility owing, in particular, to its weight-to-power ratio of more than 34 hp per ton. The Panhard PVP, a protected vehicle in the 5-tons class, is much easier to handle in urban environments than its competitors thanks to its small size. Intended for use in conflict areas, it is suited for use in narrow streets. With its powerful engine and automatic gearbox, it is also perfectly at ease on rough terrain and offers excellent obstacle crossing capability. Panhard is now a subdivision of the French Company Renault Trucks Defense. In 2015, Renault Trucks Defense has renamed the PVP with a new commercial name, the Dagger.
