The Estonian Cabinet of Defense approved the National Defence development plan for the period 2013-2022 in a move that will increase the military capability and firepower of the Estonian Defence Forces. Minister of Defence Urmas Reinsalu said the new development plan is realistic and will ensure that Estonia has, independently, initial self-defence capability.

Textron, Rheinmetall and Kongsberg announce $100 million contract on Canadian TAPV program
 

Textron Systems Canada Inc., Rheinmetall Canada Inc., and Kongsberg Protech Systems (KPS) Canada today announced a $100 million CAD contract for work to be performed by KPS Canada on the Canadian Forces Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) project. This is a sub-contract within the $205 million CAD contract between Textron Systems and Rheinmetall that was announced in October 2012.

India displayed its military strength on Saturday, January 26, 2013, while holding the 64th Republic Day parade in the capital, showing its new Agni-V intercontinental missile which is capable of striking targets some 6,000 km away. The highlight of the 100-minute parade was the nuclear-capable Agni-V ballistic missile, developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization.

The Russian Defense Ministry will not purchase any more Italian light multirole vehicles (LMV), Ground Forces commander Vladimir Chirkin said on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Almost all the Iveco LMVs that have been paid for have now been delivered and “we will not buy any more,” he said, explaining that the domestic manufacturer will be given priority.

"The tank's fire control system and stabilizer have been optimized and it will be unveiled by the next two weeks," Pourdastan told reporters in Tehran.

Dutch armed forces to continue close cooperation with Rheinmetall in ammunition procurement
 

The Rheinmetall Group of Düsseldorf and the Dutch armed forces have agreed to extend an existing agreement for the supply of various ammunition types in close cooperation between Rheinmetall and the Netherlands. The new 7-year agreement runs to the end of 2019. Under the existing agreement, Rheinmetall generated annual sales averaging €25 million during each of the past two years.
