The delivery of the RS-28 Sarmat (NATO reporting name SS-X-30) fifth-generation intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) to Russia's military is scheduled for 2020, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said at the fourth, closing in the current session, meeting with top military authorities and defense industry.

Defence Ministry (MoD) of Latvia has launched the second stage of negotiated procedure for procurement of light and medium 4x4 tactical vehicles. In Stage 2, bidders selected during the first phase submitted their detailed bids and proposed vehicles for testing. Procurement committee will now verify the compliance of proposed vehicles with operational requirements of Latvian National Armed Forces.

Czech Company Zetor engineering unveils a prototype of its new 4x4 armoured vehicle called GERLACH during the defense exhibition IDEB 2018 that takes place in Bratislava, Slovakia. The vehicle was full developed by the Company based on the experience of troops deployed during modern combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan using similar wheeled armored vehicles.

This month, footage emerged of a Syrian system dubbed 'Golan-1000'. Based on a T-72 tank chassis with desert camouflage, the Golan-1000 is a self-propelled rocket system that, according to Sputnik International, carries 500mm rounds. The vehicle carries three launchers for the rockets, which are fired from a remote control.

The U.S. Marine Corps is adopting a new precision sniper rifle to increase the lethality and combat effectiveness of scout snipers on the battlefield. The Mk13 is scheduled for fielding in late 2018 and throughout 2019. Units receiving the Mk13 include infantry and reconnaissance battalions and scout sniper schoolhouses. This weapon is already the primary sniper rifle used by Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, or MARSOC.

The Estonian Parliament voted in favor of a commitment for the benefit of the French operation Barkhane. By the end of May, the Indian army will receive a first batch of 25 K9 Vajra-T 155mm/ 52 calibre self-propelled howitzers developed and manufactured by Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Defence. The government awarded a 100-unit contract to L&T in May 2017. L&T, along with its South Korean technology partner Hanwha Tech Win (HTW), had bid for this ‘Boy Global’ acquisition programme of the MoD in 2011.
