Russia’s Kalashnikov Corporation has started delivering upgraded Dragunov sniper rifles to the Russian Defense Ministry, a source in Russia’s defense and industrial sector told TASS at the Eurosatory 2016 defense and security international exhibition.

| The Kalashnikov Corporation is the producer of the famous Kalashnikov automatic rifle and a subsidiary of Russia’s state hi-tech corporation Rostec. "The Kalashnikov Corporation has already started delivering upgraded Dragunov sniper rifles to the Russian Defense Ministry," the source said. "The upgraded rifle has been positively assessed as all imperfections registered in the baseline version have been removed," the source said. "At the same time, the corporation has improved the quality of the upgraded Dragunov sniper rifle," the source added. According to the source, law enforcement agencies and foreign customers are showing keen interest in the upgraded Dragunov sniper rifle. The Dragunov sniper rifle is a semi-automatic sniper/designated marksman rifle chambered in 7.62×54mmR and developed in the Soviet Union. The upgraded Dragunov sniper rifle was unveiled at the Russian Defense Ministry Innovation Day in the autumn of 2015. The upgraded sniper rifle features an improved operation scheme of its gas-piston mechanism, Picatinny rails for optical sights, shooting accessories and an ergonomic butt-stock. |
