The fate of the new Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle developed for the Russian army will be decided during the state acceptance trials due to begin in June 2013, Russia's largest firearms manufacturer, Izhmash, said. “In the interests of the Defense Ministry, Izhmash is working on the modernization of the AK-74 and AK-100 assault rifles in service with the Russian army.

Iran to unveil new home-made air defense missile system Bavar-373 similar to the Russian S-300
 

A senior Iranian military commander announced on Sunday that the country will unveil a home-made long-range air-defense missile system similar to the Russian S-300 in the near future. "This system, dubbed as Bavar (belief) 373, is being developed in the country and will be officially unveiled soon," Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Army's Self-Sufficiency Jihad Rear Admiral Farhad Amiri said.

The Iranian Army plans to unveil and test new domestically-made weapons and military hardware during the upcoming wargames in Central Iran, a senior commander announced. A number of armored personnel carriers, weapons, sniper rifles, anti-aircraft batteries and missile launchers will be unveiled in the upcoming Beit ol-Moqaddas 25 wargames.

United States try to find more fund for Israeli Iron Dome anti-rockets system
 

The Pentagon has stepped up efforts to fund Israel's anti-missile shield with the Missile Defense Agency requesting $220 million in fiscal 2014 for Israel's air force to buy more Iron Dome batteries. It's the first time the MDA has specifically sought funds for Iron Dome, developed and built by Haifa's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, in its annual budget process.

Trials - involving five different vehicles - begin mid-April and will continue until September with contract scheduled for February next year. First deliveries will be in 2015.
