The PARS III 8x8 is an improved version of the original PARS 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicle developed, designed and manufactured by the Turkish Company FNSS. The development of the PARS vehicle started in 2002, and the first generation of PARS 8x8 armoured personnel carrier was showed for the first time during the IDEX defense exhibition in February 2015 held in the city of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Pars III makes it first appearance in may 2017 during the IDEF defense exhibition in Turkey. The PARS first generation is in service in Asia and Middle East, with the PARS III, the Turkish Company FNSS clearly demonstrates that it will continue to develop this vehicle family, using latest and modern technologies in term of protection, mobility and fire power. The PARS III 8x8 has a modular design uses a modular design offering the possibility to configure the vehicle for a full range of missions and in different types of configuration. The PARS III 8X8 can be transported by military transport aircraft as A400, C17 & C5, sea, train or land. Technical Data

Armament
The PARS III 8x8 can be fitted with a full range of weapon systems including remotely operated turret. At IDEF 2017, the PARS III 8x8 was fitted with the FNSS one-man power operated Saber turret armed with an ATK 25mm M242 Enhanced Bushmaster 25mm dual-feed automatic cannon which is provided with 240 rounds (150+90) of ready-use ammunition. A 7.62mm M240 machine gun is mounted coaxially with the M242 cannon on the left side of the main armament and is provided with 600 ready use ammunition. A bank of three 76mm grenade launchers is mounted on both sides of the turret towards the rear. These could also be replaced by grenade launchers of other calibers. Turret traverse is all-electric through 360 degrees, with weapon elevation from -8 to +48 degrees.
Design and protection
The PARS III 8x8 has an unique design with the driver and commander at the front of the hull, the turret is mounted in the center of the roof, the troops compartment is at the rear of the hull, and the power pack is located to the rear of the driver and commander position on the left side of the hull. The two-man driver’s cab at front of the vehicle offers a 180° horizontal field of vision and a high level of driving safety and comfort. The PARS III has a crew of three including driver, commander and gunner and it can carry 9 infantrymen at the rear of the hull. There is a passageway on the right side of the hull, which connects the driver/commander positions at the front with the troops compartment at the rear with a flat floor. The rear part of the hull is fitted with an hydraulic ramp with a manual emergency door in the center. There is also two large hatches on the roof of the troops compartment. The PARS III 8X8 has a combat weight of 30,000 kg and has a standard protection against firing of small arms and artillery shell splinters. The hull of the vehicle can be fitted with additional armour up to the level of protection required by the user thanks to the modular design armor system.
Mobility
The PARS III 8x8 is powered by EURO 3 Power Pack Compliant with NATO Single Fuel Concept coupled to a fully automatic transmission with 7 forward and 1 reverse gears. It uses an 8x8 chassis with 4 axles and all of its axles can be locked when necessary. Thanks to the engine layout and favored balanced design, the vehicle has almost equal axle loads. This design approach gives the vehicle the ability to move comfortably even on loose and soft terrain, providing increased road-holding at high speeds and short braking distances. The modular connection of the vehicle subsystems to its mine-resistant hull ensures ease of maintenance and replacement, and it is this ease of maintenance, replacement of moving parts and power transmission systems in particular that make it superior to its counterparts. The power pack architecture, which can be disassembled and reassembled in less than 60 minutes, allows the user to replace the engine on the field, as an additional benefit. One special interesting feature on PARS III 8x8 is the capability to go right-hand drive to left-hand drive in five seconds . The PARS III 8X8 all-axle steering system gives the vehicle the lowest turning radius in its class at 8 m. The ability of gradual decreasing of steer by wire of rear axles and locking over certain speeds, together with the ABS system and the engine brake all contribute to enhanced driving safety. The PARS III can run at a maximum road speed of 100 km/h. With a cruising range of over 800 km maximum, the PARS III 8X8 has fuel tanks incorporating special measures to protect against explosion and puncture, and a reserve fuel tank under the armor can be called upon in emergencies. The PARS III 8X8 is capable to negotiate a 60% vertical and 30% horizontal gradient, climb vertical obstacles of 70 cm maximum and cross 200 cm-wide trenches.
Accessories
Standard equipment of PARS III 8x8 includes night vision equipment, NBC protection system, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Central Tire Inflation (CTI) and Run Flat Tire Inserts, Integrated Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and Integrated Survivability Suite. The central tire inflation system allows the driver to adjust the tire pressures to suit different terrain conditions. Clip on run-flat system enables PARS III 8x8 to continue its mission during emergency cases. The PARS III 8x8 also has an integrated air-conditioning system, and the main difference of this system that makes it stand out from its counterparts is that even in desert conditions, the vehicle’s internal temperature can be kept at +25 °C. Large glass periscopes, and front driving and maneuver cameras with thermal cameras located at the front and rear of the vehicle provide the driver and commander with a wider field of vision.
