Defense Industry of India to conduct first test of PDV Prithvi Defence Vehicle in January 2014
 

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India is on the way to conduct the first test of its newly developed interceptor missile from a defence base off the Odisha coast in January 2014. The missile, dubbed as Prithvi Defence Vehicle (PDV), has the potential to destroy enemy missile with a strike range of around 2,500 km outside the earth’s atmosphere (at an altitude of over 150 km).

Ukraine has started the delivery of T-72 main battle tanks to Ethiopian army
 

In November 2013, Ukraine's state-controlled arms exporter, Ukrspecexport SC, has begun delivering the upgraded T-72 main battle tanks and related parts to the Ethiopian military. The delivery is a contract signed in 2011 between Ethiopia's defence ministry and the Ukrainian arms firm to purchase 200 T-72 tanks at a cost of $100 million.

Poland is preparing to spend billions of dollars over the next decade to acquire new air and missile defense technologies, Defense News reported on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Warsaw is planning on acquiring by 2022 short- and medium-range missiles for defensive uses at a potential cost of up to $8.4 billion, making it the nation's biggest military procurement project, according to the Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper.

Vietnam and New Zealand sign an agreement on boosting their defense cooperation

General Thanh affirmed that the visit by the New Zealand Minister of Defence would contribute to the friendship and mutual understanding between the two armies.

Northrop Grumman and U.S. Army successfully demonstrated command system for air defense
 

The U.S. Army and Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) have successfully demonstrated a warfighter-focused, net-centric battle command system for integrated air and missile defense (IAMD). The Army demonstration, conducted from Oct. 24 to Nov. 8 at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., employed Northrop Grumman's IAMD Battle Command System (IBCS) software and hardware components.

The United States Army recently purchased 36 Maveric UAS Unmanned Aerial Systems as a result of an urgent request from Soldiers in combat. The request was made to the Rapid Equipping Force, or REF, at Fort Belvoir, Va., in March, and Soldiers will receive them by December.

Lex Products Corp. announced that the U.S. Marine Corps has awarded the company a contract for the design and development of Advanced Mobile Electric Power Distribution System (AMEPDIS). AMEPDIS is the enhanced version of the MEPDIS-R portable electric power distribution system, which Lex Products has supplied to the all Marine Corps forward operating bases since 2004.

The Army’s Rapid Equipping Force is looking to turn soldiers’ homespun ideas into hot new equipment for troops with a new collaborative tool called Army Co-Create. Captain Robert Tavzel, a project officer with Marine Corps System Command, and native of Fredericksburg, Va., said the new sight was developed in response to an urgent universal need statement.

On November 21st 2013, the first Iveco Trakker Hi-Land 8x8 was handed over from Iveco Defence Vehicles Benelux to the fire brigades of the Dutch army’s infantry (ISK) and artillery (ASK) firing ranges. The hand-over ceremony was held at the NIDV Symposium in Rotterdam and was attended by military representatives and industrial partners.
