This statement emphasizes the successful conclusion of the training program and the readiness of the Ukrainian military personnel to operate the CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicles on the front line. The clear intention is to ensure that the Ukrainian soldiers are well-prepared and equipped for any potential conflict situations.

It is yet another example of the ongoing international cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden, as both countries continue to deepen their ties in the sphere of defense and military preparedness.

In January 2023, the Army Recognition editorial team reported that Sweden will provide Ukraine with the CV9040, one of the most modern and powerful tracked armored IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicles) in the world. The Combat Vehicle 90 (CV90) constitutes a series of armored Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) on tracks, produced and developed by the Swedish firm BAE Systems Hägglunds. It's conceived to be a well-protected and highly mobile unit capable of serving multiple roles such as infantry support, reconnaissance, and combat.

An enhancement of the CV90 IFV lineup is the CV9040, a product also developed by BAE Systems Hägglunds. It serves as an advanced iteration of the CV9035, boasting increased engine power, upgraded armor, and supplementary equipment.

It is a variant of the Combat Vehicle 90 (CV90) family, is an advanced armored fighting vehicle developed by the Swedish company BAE Systems Hägglunds.

The primary weapon system of the CV9040, also known as Strf 9040, consists of a 40 mm Bofors Defence 40/70B cannon. The CV9040 cannon utilizes a bottom-feed ammunition system, and ejects used casings through the roof. The 40 mm gun, controllable by both the commander and the gunner, can be operated in two modes: single-shot with a rate of 60 rounds per minute, or full-auto at a cyclic rate of 300 rounds per minute. It delivers effective firing ranges of up to 2,000 meters for ground targets and 4,000 meters for airborne targets.

Housed within the steel-constructed, power-operated turret, the vehicle's crew of two - the commander and the gunner - are positioned to the left and right respectively. Both crew members have access to a single-piece hatch cover that swings open to the rear.

Supplementing the main armament, a 7.62mm M/39 coaxial machine gun is installed to the left of the primary cannon. On each side of the turret, a set of three smoke grenade dischargers is mounted. The turret also hosts two Bofors Lyran 71 mm mortar tubes on its rear, capable of launching illuminating bombs to a maximum distance of 1,600 meters.

In terms of mobility, the CV9040 is engineered with a robust engine system that ensures high speed and agility on diverse terrains, facilitating quick maneuverability in combat scenarios and tactical repositioning. This feature allows the CV9040 to cover vast areas of operation rapidly, making it a highly mobile asset on the battlefield. it can run at a maximum road speed of 70 km with a maximum range of 320 km

With regards to protection, the CV9040 exhibits enhanced armor that offers comprehensive resistance against a variety of threats. The upgraded armor defends against ballistic and explosive threats, making it a formidable frontline vehicle. Furthermore, the addition of the latest countermeasure systems and active protection systems provide the CV9040 with an added layer of security, making it highly resilient during active engagements.
