Brazilian Marine Corps to receive first Oshkosh JLTVs in 2022


Admiral Rogério Ramos Lage, Material Commander of the Brazilian Marine Corps, confirmed the delivery of the first four Oshkosh 4x4 JLTV armored vehicles by October 2022, out of a total order of 12 units whose deliveries will be four vehicles per year until 2024, InfoDefensa reports.

The announcement was made during the presentation of the level 3 capabilities of the Marine Infantry Rapid Reaction Force at the service of the United Nations, attended by the commander of the Marine Infantry Force of the Fleet, Admiral Carlos Chagas. The first contract to acquire 12 units was signed in October 2020, but according to statements by the Brazilian Admiralty, the plans for the JLTV in the Brazilian Marine Corps reach a planned fleet of 48 units to be acquired in the next eight years, within the Pro AD SUMUS Program.

The Brazilian Marine Corps (CFN: Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais) is the land combat branch and amphibious branch of the Brazilian Navy. The Corps is specialized in amphibious warfare. Deployed nationwide, along the coast, in the riverine regions of Amazon and in the Pantanal, it provides for the security of naval installations and aids isolated populations through civic action programs in the naval districts. Abroad, it provides security for the embassies of Brazil in Algeria, Paraguay, Haiti and Bolivia. It has participated in all of the armed conflicts in the Military history of Brazil, foreign and domestic. Its badge consists of a fouled anchor superimposed over a pair of crossed rifles. It is worn on the collar points of the dress and service uniforms and on the corps Garrison Cap (Gorro de Fita).
