ASELSAN completes delivery of mobile border security systems to Uruguay's armed forces
ASELSAN, a leading Turkish military electronics company, has provided Uruguay with material to protect its borders, the company announced Sunday. ASELSAN said that the firm had delivered mobile border security systems to protect Uruguay’s land and sea borders.

In 2013, the company had won a $3.7 million contract to supply the mobile surveillance systems of the Uruguayan Army.

Each system comprises an Aselsan electro-optical sensor and an Advanced Capability Aselsan Radar (ACAR) ground surveillance radar mounted in a telescopic mast on a Land Rover Defender. The ACAR has a maximum range of up to 60 km and can detect pedestrians at ranges up to 12km. This new surveillance systems will replace the existing Thales 3190BRASIT radars in service with the Uruguayan Army.

The delivery of the mobile surveillance systems, such as reconnaissance-surveillance radars and thermal cameras, has been completed, according to the Turkey's largest defense company ASELSAN.
