Iran has developed new containerized Fateh-110 surface-to-surface missile system


According to pictures published on Internet, Iran has developed a new surface-to-surface missile container using Fateh-110 single-stage solid-fueled surface-to-surface missile stored in an ordinary land container that can be fitted on a civilian truck chassis.

Secreted stored inside a civilian shipping container and placed on a standard truck chassis, the missile system reveals itself only when the container roof opens, and the missile rises from concealment and launches.

With the missile stored inside a standard container and carried on truck chassis, the weapon system can be moved on the road without being detected. It can be delivered by land, sea or air to any part of the world.

The Fateh-110 is a surface-to-surface missile by Iran's Aerospace Industries Organization based on a modified version of the unguided Zelzal-2 with the addition of control and guidance systems.

Citing Missile Threat website, Iran began the development of the Fateh-110 in 1995. The missile is 8.86 m long, 0.61 m in diameter, and weighs 3,450 kg. It uses a single-stage solid-propellant engine and has a range of 210 km, although it is possible that Iran will add extra boosters in order to increase its range to 400 km.

The Fateh-110 can carry a payload of some 500 kg and is most likely intended to deliver a high explosive, chemical, or submunitions warhead. The missile is also assumed to be nuclear / WMD (weapon of mass destruction) capable.

The Fateh-110 is already in service with the Iranian armed forces, mounted on Mercedes-Benz or IVECO 6x6 commercial truck chassis, and has a single launch rail.
